One Country Project Releases Third Rural Policy Roadmap on Clean Energy

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, One Country Project (OCP) released the third installment of the Rural Policy Roadmap series. This policy roadmap highlights how rural America can benefit from the clean energy industry and how the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the Build Back Better Act (BBB) will make rural America a cornerstone of the clean energy economy.

“The clean energy investments in the recently-passed Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act pave the way for rural America to be at the centerpiece of the 21st century clean energy economy,” said OCP founder Heidi Heitkamp. “It has become increasingly clear that sustainability will drive America’s future, and rural communities cannot be left behind in that journey. This roadmap helps demonstrate ways that Congress and the Biden administration have already invested in critical clean energy projects, as well as laying out additional clean energy benefits to be reaped when the Senate passes the Build Back Better Act

“We all know that legislation only matters to most folks if it impacts their everyday lives. Clean energy provides the opportunity for America’s small towns to diversify their economy while playing a leading role in the fight against climate change. Not only will rural clean energy create new jobs; it will also lower energy bills for families, farms, and small businesses.”

One Country Project’s Rural Policy Roadmap series aims to better connect the country by promoting rural issues and giving advocates and policymakers the information they need to prioritize the rural communities that have been left behind for decades.
